ABOUT

Glastig: A female sprite in Celtic Folklore.

Glastig Stained Glass is led by artist Lex Shute who received her MA from the Royal College of Art. Her stained glass work is inspired by historical research into Medieval Herbals, Witchcraft, Folklore, Myth and Magic. This informs her sculptural work, which can be seen here. Since moving to Somerset she and her partner have been restoring an acre and a half of land, growing organic fruit, vegetables and a medicinal garden.

All Glastig Stained Glass items are handmade using centuries-old, traditional methods. There are several stages of building up vitreous paint in layers and kiln-firing the glass at each stage to permanently fuse the paint to the glass. Lead ‘came’ is used for edging the panels and the joints soldered. Whenever possible we use reclaimed and recycled glass.

Sent from our Somerset Studio, your stained glass painted panel will be dispatched within 2-3 working days and arrive beautifully wrapped in unbleached linen and eco-friendly packaging – biodegradable, reusable and recyclable.

Looking to send a gift? We are able to send your gift directly to the recipient and will also include a Glastig Stained Glass card to which you can add your own personal message. Just let us know.

Each stained glass panel is unique, please bear this in mind, as the item you receive may differ slightly from that shown in the display photography.

As lead is used to create the panels, please wash your hands after handling.

We recommend hanging all glass pieces from a secure hook or nail.

Care instructions: simply wipe with a soft cloth or wash in soapy water.

We undertake a wide variety of stained glass commissions so if you would like us to help you realise an idea please send us an email at [email protected]
